— Health Disclaimer
Please read this carefully.

TiaoLi is a wellness companion, not a medical service. Before you use anything we suggest, please understand what we do, what we don't, and when to seek help from a qualified practitioner.
01 TiaoLi is not a medical service
The content provided by TiaoLi — including recipes, tea suggestions, movement practices, AI conversation, and educational material — is intended for general wellness and self-discovery purposes only.
Specifically, TiaoLi does not:
- Diagnose any medical or psychological condition
- Treat, cure, or prevent any disease
- Replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- Function as a licensed practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western medicine, nutrition, psychology, or any other regulated health profession
- Operate as a medical device
— Always seek a doctor
Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read or experienced in TiaoLi.
02 What our information is based on
TiaoLi draws inspiration from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a system of medicine with thousands of years of historical use. However, please understand:
- Many TCM concepts have not been validated by modern Western scientific research
- Where research exists, results are sometimes mixed or limited
- TCM as practiced by a licensed practitioner involves individualized diagnosis (pulse reading, tongue examination, etc.) that an app cannot replicate
- Our recommendations are general lifestyle suggestions, not clinical TCM treatment
We use the language of TCM (warming foods, cold-prone constitutions, qi, etc.) because these concepts have practical meaning in food and lifestyle contexts. We do not claim that these concepts have been scientifically proven, and we do not make medical claims about them.
03 Before making any changes
Before you act on suggestions from TiaoLi, please consider:
- Allergies and intolerances — Always check ingredients for allergens you know about. If you have severe allergies, consult a doctor before introducing new foods or herbs.
- Medications — Many herbs and foods can interact with medications. If you take any medications, consult your doctor or pharmacist before consuming new herbs (including those in our recipes).
- Medical conditions — If you have any diagnosed medical condition (including but not limited to diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune conditions, kidney or liver issues), consult your healthcare provider before changing your diet.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding — Certain herbs and food shifts may not be appropriate during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consult your obstetrician or midwife before using any wellness suggestions from TiaoLi during these times.
- Children — Our content is designed for adults. Do not give herbs, supplements, or restrictive diets to children based on app suggestions; consult a pediatrician.
04 Topics TiaoLi does not cover
Our AI assistant is designed to redirect you to qualified professionals for:
- Cancer diagnosis or treatment
- Diabetes management
- Pregnancy and fertility
- Mental health conditions (depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, etc.)
- Autoimmune diseases
- Medication interactions
- Acute pain or symptoms
- Persistent health issues (anything lasting more than 2 weeks)
- Symptoms in children
If you ask about any of these topics, TiaoLi will recommend that you consult a qualified healthcare provider instead of offering specific advice.
05 AI-generated content has limitations
TiaoLi uses AI to personalize recommendations. AI is powerful but imperfect:
- AI may occasionally produce factually incorrect statements
- AI may miss context that a human professional would catch
- AI cannot examine your body, take your pulse, or see your tongue (key diagnostic tools in TCM)
- AI cannot detect emergencies or read non-verbal cues
We have safety systems in place to filter dangerous AI output, but no system is perfect. Use your judgment, and when in doubt, seek a professional opinion.
06 Listen to your body
The wisdom traditions TiaoLi draws from share a single ancient instruction: listen to your body.
If something we suggest doesn't feel right, stop. If a recipe causes any adverse reaction (digestive upset, skin reaction, headache, etc.), discontinue and consult a healthcare provider. Your body's signals always outrank our suggestions.
— If you are in crisis
You don't have to face it alone.
If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicidal ideation, or a mental health emergency, please reach out to a crisis line in your region right now. Someone trained to help is waiting to listen.

— Why we wrote this
We could have hidden this in fine print. Instead, we wrote it clearly because we genuinely care about your wellbeing. Wellness apps that overpromise harm people. We would rather under-promise and over-deliver — and we'd rather you see a doctor when you need one.
